ADR Initial Courses

Background

We are an accredited provider of ADR courses, registered with the Department of Transport #N291 and a member of the National Dangerous Goods Training Consortium (NDGTC). We are accredited to provide courses for both Packages, Tanks and Classes 2,3,4,5,6,8 and 9.

Content

The length of the training course is determined by the number of modules required and minimum time standards are laid down by the Examining Board who verify and administer the ADR scheme.

The minimum period of time for a course is currently two days. This includes the core module, packages module and one class. To complete all the classes takes a further two days making the course four days in all. For tankers it is common for just one class to be studied, however the minimum time for this is now three days rising to five days for completion of all the classes except explosives and radioactive materials.

Additional modules can be added at any time in the five years of the validity period but will have to be refreshed at the same time as the core module.

Examinations

Each course culminates in a number of multiple choice exam papers depending on the modules selected. The candidate must achieve a 70% pass in each paper. To obtain an ADR Vocational Training Certificate requires passes in at least the Core, Packages or Tanks, and one class module.

Passing any paper will result in a credit being awarded by the examinations board for that paper. Failed modules will require the candidate to retake the module within three months after receipt of results, during which time only the failed exam paper needs to be retaken. After this time the training module must also be attended. If the candidate fails to attain a certificate within twelve months all modules must be retaken in their entirety.
